Build day 1

The Fletcher family

Saturday, October 24. We had about an hour.

The parts were here: a SunFounder PiCar-X kit, a Raspberry Pi 5 (4GB), and the official 27W power supply. About $230 so far. We unboxed everything and spread it on the table so we could see the whole kit at once.

My two kids took turns reading the manual. We mounted the Pi 5 on the chassis plate, then started on the camera and the pan-tilt bracket. Nothing broke.

My two kids are super excited to finish it.

Next time we keep going on the camera and the bracket. A 3D-printed teal puppy head will sit on that pan-tilt mount, printed on my brother's Bambu printer. Driving, the camera, and audio stay on the PiCar-X. Hard thinking goes to a Mac mini at home. We start with SunFounder's tools, then move to OpenClaw.
